The australian team has arrived at JWOC!

Hey all!

We have all arrived at our JWOC accomodation today. We are staying at the Göteborg military base and so far today we have just settled in, eaten some strange sausage lasagne thingy and gone for a little run around the complex. Our accomodation is very nice and comfortable with two people to a room each. Roomies are "the Shady characters" Nick and Leon, "two O's "Oscar and Olly, "the ACT buddies" Lachy and Geoff, "the Gap trash duo" Rach and Bridge, "the sorta victorian pair" Aislinn and Belinda and "the Sister's" Laurina and Krystal.

We are very excited about the sprint tomorrow and we have high hopes for the team to do well.

Australian Team Training Camp report

The Australian Team has settled in to the IK Uven clubhouse south of Goteborg and enjoying the Swedish forest. We have raised the Australian flag at the clubhouse with great pride. The weather has been changeable and we need to take a range of clothing to cover all possibilities! The weather is gradually getting warmer as the week progresses.

Some of the team have been in Sweden for over 2 weeks and trained last week under the tutelage of David Shepherd and Jo Allison. A few are battling the affects of competing in Jukola having coming down with colds. Simon Uppill is with us and giving the team some valuable training advice and Julian Dent is joining the camp on Wednesday evening to give some last minute tips for orienteering in Swedish terrain. The locals are a little perplexed about our use of their clubhouse and use the facilities without a worry.

The clubhouse is comfortable and well equipped for cooking our own meals and the cooking groups are doing some great dishes which are consumed readily and with enthusiasm.

We are gradually relaxing into the Swedish way of life and relaxing with some light technical training in between. The team has done some long training on Partille-Gunnilise and met up with the New Zealand team today for some short relay legs and practice in mass starts on Oserjo.

Tomorrow the team plans to do some middle distance training on Jonsered Norr.

So most of the team has been training in Skatås for the past week with the help from Jo, Shep, SImon and JIm. we have been going out to heaps of maps and most of us are becomming very familiar with this new type of terrain. Most of the team has headed to Norway for the weekend for the World cup races but we will all meet up again on monday for the JWOC camp with the rest of the team.
That's all that has been happening so far. more will be posted soon.

Jwoc is almost here!!

Well guys, JWOC is just around the corner and the team has been super busy getting prepared for the event. Unfortunatly there have been some changes to the team as Bryan has had to pull out due to a stress fracture in his foot. Our first reserve, Geoff Stacy has agreed to take Bryan's place in the team and is quickly booking flights to JWOC on such short notice. We wish Bryan a speedy recovery and we welcome Geoff into the team.
In other news, Olly has made a speedy reocery from his operation a few weeks back on his knee. He is now up and back into running training and quotes " It should be all sweet for JWOC!".

The rest of the team have just been training hard and trying to finish uni (and school) before they head overseas. Many of them will be leaving within the next week as they are running in an Aussie Jukola team next weekend and then heading to Gothenburg for a training week with Shep before the acutal JWOC camp begins.
Keep an eye on this blog as it's going to get very busy withing the next month.
